Switching to a sulfate-free shampoo is a step for most hair types because they are not colored and the natural oils in the hair are preserved.

The absence of harmful sulphates reduces soaping, making it more difficult to remove dirt and oil from natural products (some even recommend using the shampoo twice).

Specially developed for coarse and curly hair, the line is combined with an antifreeze for smooth and intensive hair, without sulfates or silicones.

The formula is enriched with plant sunflower extract and helps nourish and smooth the hair.

A few years ago, L’Oréal launched the first sulfate-free shampoo and balm set in pharmacies, which is not only suitable for people with colour-treated hair, but has recently added volume and firmness to the range.

With the new EverSleek line, which is available in two versions, we can now add the Frizz order to the list of sulphate-free products: Intensive repair and smoothing.

Apart from the absence of sulphates, silicone does not seem to weigh hair down with the molecules of the plush. The EverSleek line guarantees that straight hair and voluminous hair are not mutually exclusive.

EverSleek Repair Smoothing Shampoo and Conditioner is most suitable for hair damaged by colouring, retesting and heat styling. This set of shampoos and conditioners is safe for chemically coated hair.

EverSleek Intensive Smoothing Shampoo and Conditioner is a subgroup of people whose hair behaves naturally without disrupting chemical processes.

Why should I avoid sulphates?

Sulphates are cleansing and foaming agents found in most rinsing products such as shampoos and skin cleansers.

Sulphates are considered safe for short-term use followed by thorough rinsing of the skin they have touched.

However, for some, even this short contact is too rigid, leading to the following problems

Writing on the scalp

Sulphates are well-known skin irritants. As a cleaning agent they remove the oil so effectively that they can remove the outer protective layer of the scalp.
As a result, your scalp may develop sensitivity, dryness, redness and itching.

Acne

Many people reported having pimples on their scalp and around the hairline! I’m not entirely sure of the mechanism – it may be due to the bacterial invasion or the severity of the sulphates that stimulate oil production.
Sulphates can leave a film on the scalp that clogs the pores.

Dry hair

The sulphate-filled shampoo removes oil so well that its length lacks moisture and shine.
This can be problematic for people with dry or curly hair or for people who tend to get confused, fly away and cut their ends (dry hair separates faster).

Colour damping

I’m sure you’ve heard it before. Sulphates are generally suspected of speeding up the discoloration of hair dyes.

Hair loss

Some people have pointed to sulphates because they contribute to hair loss, thinning and baldness – directly by causing inflammation of the scalp.
If you have this problem and you have alternatives, why don’t you use them?

Use of sulphate-free shampoos

Here are a few simple steps for using sulphate-free shampoos:

STEP 1:

Thoroughly moisten your hair. Make sure your hair is completely wet so you can distribute the shampoo evenly.

STEP 2:

Apply the shampoo to the back of the scalp. Squeeze out a small amount of shampoo. (Just because it’s less coloring doesn’t mean you have to use more shampoo). Now, go through the bottom of your hair. It must cover the area from the back of the head to the top and behind the ears.

STEP 3:

Apply more shampoo to the front of the scalp. Squeeze another quarter of the waist and do the same, but cover the front half of the head, from the hairline to the crown and up to the legs. Cutting the hair in half (front and back) is the easiest way to achieve good scalp coverage with a sulfate-free shampoo.

Tip!

Add water if your shampoo does not spread well; try to add water before applying more shampoo. It is highly probable that water alone is sufficient to support dispersal and produce susceptible foam.

STEP 4:

Massage the scalp for 3 minutes. Most of us don’t pay enough attention to the scalp and wonder why our hair gets flattened. Massage the shampoo with the balls of your fingers (not with your nails) in circular movements around your scalp.
If for some reason you cannot actively massage your scalp, at least leave the shampoo on the scalp for as long as it lasts.

Tip!

Pass your lengths. You may not exceed your height with the shampoo. Like I said, it’s your scalp that needs more attention. Just flush the shampoo all the way through, that’s enough.

STEP 5:

Rinse for a minute. It is good to stay under water for at least a full minute (the colder the better). Then choose air conditioning or vinegar rinsing.

Unfortunately, cosmetic companies don’t care as much about the health of your skin as they do about their profits…

Fortunately, there are several good sulphate-free varieties on the market today that work better than ever before.

Conclusion

The choice of shampoo depends on your hair type.

People with burnt or dyed hair can benefit from a softer cleaning option to prevent their hair from feeling super dry.

But those with greasy strands will have to use sulphates to feel really clean.

If you’re interested, don’t hesitate to try the sulfate-free shampoo to see if it suits you or not!
